On Circe and in Peace
The Paco Park, Church and Cemetery Experience
A Yesterday’s Place. Heritage of the past. It all falls under “Beauty Beyond Deterioration, Beyond Nostalgia”. Our country is very rich in historical places that should be preserved but still serve people. A good example of this kind of place is Paco Park, church and cemetery.
Despite of it’s smallness, it is rich in history. It was built on 1807 when Spaniard reigns. Originally, its function is to serve as cemetery exclusively for colonial elites. When the priests Gomez, Burgos and Zamora were killed, Paco Cemetery is where they were buried. Also, where Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero, temporarily buried.
The place were in the circular form and it can be observed from the second deck.
The cemetery has two walls. The material used to build the walls were adobe bricks, also known as mud bricks. It is made up of earth with a fairly high content of clay. At this time, it is very sensitive that it needed to be preserved that is why some reconstruction is made.
The walls are supported with columns. The capital of the columns were made simple. It is a cemetery so the columns were not made as grandeur as others.
It has a good atmosphere of a cemetery. Peaceful indeed that anyone will probably appreciate it.
This Park is like a garden due to having a small plants. Maybe because, it is a cemetery and church that must encompasses peace and solemnity.
Due to its sweet atmosphere, it is such a very good place to be also called park. It also serve as venue to any activity that it can accommodate such as a place dance rehearsal and recitals for music.
The benches are in good simple design that it is a good spot to unwind and take a rest for a while.

Paco park is being preserved but still serve people to it’s maximum discipline. Visitors must read and know their ten rules so that the experience can be maximized.
For it’s nostalgic ambiance, if someone is to film something that should set in an old style, Paco park is good choice.
Overall, Paco park, church and cemetery serves as promenade and remain grandeur as it is. It is a public national park, yet, it is a private alcove for individual and also, for teen age sweet hearts.
