Bannerfall 4C!!!
I started drawing this months ago but just now finished it.
4C doodles :P
he's had a rough couple days.
4C! I’m actually so happy with how the rendering on him turned out :D
i cannot stop thinking of mae or kitty or frouge or katie or shan or SOMEONE climbing up into the little rogues bit of the tavern and finding 4c's cloak, like. just crumpled in the corner. because that is where he canonically took it off, and he definitely didn't take it with him, so I would assume it's still there
like. do u think it still smells like him (if he even has a smell, as a slime ??), do u think the gooey parts have dried up n started cracking now that he's gone, do u think that slime cloaks are woven in such a way to become one with their wearer, so it feels so much thinner and more coarse now that he's not wearing it
do u think blue kingdom would keep it as a keepsake. maybe a reminder. do u think nom would burn it, or would he keep it in the same way that katie kept that drawing from their childhoods. just sibling things I guess,,
Wanted.
What is very pivotal right now that people gotta understand is that Scott Springwell is stressed the hell out, but is rather good at keeping a lid on his feelings even to his own detriment (at least until no one is around to see him let it out in some cases).
Between the plague, the Creaking King, the Red Kingdom, and his ailment, there is just a lot on his plate right now. Additionally he’s still very young and just lost his father not too long ago. He feels that all he has left is Blue Kingdom and has dedicated himself to it despite his initial uncertainy towards his situation when he first got there.
So where am I going with this? Well, I just figured it was good to establish the basics of what’s going on with Scott in order to better inform about his reactions towards all the stuff with 4c at the moment. Because I think people are concerned that Scott is angry and seeks to punish 4c for the tunnels and prank and stuff. When…no? He’s just confused about his intentions and desperately wants to understand 4c better. Scott Springwell as a character values honesty, understanding, and communication. It’s one of the reasons why the stuff with Nom and Cherri bothered him as much as it did. He wants people in the kingdom to communicate with one another about their problems instead of just playing in the avoidance Olympics and going for gold. With that being said, from Scott’s perspective 4c is a rather confusing slime man with intentions he can’t fully understand yet. He doesn’t know that 4c was just trying to be whimsical by pranking Blue right before the inspection. Because from his pov it’s just one more stressor even if it was meant to be harmless and silly. I think Mae said it best when she said that it’s the difference between intention and perception. Instead of being the joyous thing it was intended to be, it was perceived as a rather inconvenient thing to have occurred the day before an inspection with unknown consequences if they were to fail it. Not only that, a good amount of the kingdoms gold was taken to build this prank within their own kingdom and not at Red. I think any other time this prank would’ve been received better by the characters but with things being so stressful currently, the reactions make sense. It’s hard for Scott to not possibly think of this as sabotage in a way, even if he himself is trying very hard to understand why 4c does the things he does and doesn’t want to actively believe it’s sabotage.
As for the tunnel thing it’s once again a case of Scott Springwell wanting to understand what’s going on with 4c. He said it himself, he’s not even upset by the tunnels themselves being a thing that exists. He just wants to know why exactly they exist and what intentions 4c had in making them. Which I think is fair enough when you’re the monarch and one tunnel is directly into your throne room. Again, intentions vs. perception. 4c intends for the tunnels to be a way to keep himself safe vs. Scott perceiving it as a security risk. It’s one thing that red members can walk into their kingdom when they can see them doing so. It’s another when they can sneak in and possibly ambush the kingdom when they least expect it. Especially when they span across the kingdom and Scott is aware that Katie knows about these tunnels for some reason or another. Scott can take into account what Mae said about 4c being afraid. But that just gives him another question. Who or what is 4c so afraid of that he felt he had to do this? Is it something that he can deal with as monarch? Is it something they can all fight? Is the Blue Kingdom at risk of something else on top of the laundry list of other threats? Scott doesn’t know the answer but he wants to know because he wants to be able to help. Because from his perspective, talking usually helps! But as of now, it’s just one more stressful thing that he’s left Nom to resolve (which is a unique stressor for him of its own seeing as he’s now worried about how Nom will react to all of, well, (gestures wildly) that)
Scott’s reign as monarch may end on inspection day but the worries will still remain. And if there is anything Scott Springwell is at the moment, it’s worried. With his worries expanding to include 4c. Although, I think it’s not so much worrying about 4c but FOR 4c if that makes sense
“The second time I lost a brother…” yeah that line won’t go away anytime soon 😞
