Something that means so much to me about Katie's explanation in the earlier streams that they really don't mention much is that originally, she didn't think she'd stay in Red. She thought Nom would come get her, that he'd realize he needed her.

Katie thought her big brother would be coming for her.

He never did.

She was in a brand new place, filled with people she was taught to hate and were taught to hate her, likely scared and alone, waiting for her big brother to come get her, to bring her home. But he never did. And that big scary kingdom, over time, became her home.

And now that Nom has tried to bring her home, it's too late. About 3 years too late. She has no intention of leaving anymore.
