Part 1
Minghao’s P.O.V.
The loud cheers of the sea of fans still echoed in my ears as I packed my gear with my bandmates. We were just starting to get recognition and every now and then there were more and more people at our concerts. I still remember our first concert what only our parents and friends attended. We really grow a lot ever since then.
“Nice job Eight.” Joshua, our guitarist, hit my shoulder. He called me by my nickname. I was the lucky eight of the team, their good luck charm.
“Are you up for the after party?” Jeonghan, our bassist, came in handing me a towel to wipe off my sweat. Jihoon, our drummer, was still packing his drum kit but I could feel him eyeing us from the corner of his eyes.
“I don’t know... I don’t really want to party.” I shook my head as I close my backpack,
“Come on, our lucky charm needs to be there!” Jeonghan nudged me and I smiled meekly.
“I heard that a record label will be there.” Jihoon spoke up and we turned our attention over to him, however he was no longer looking at us. He often did this to look more distant and mysterious.
“See! It could even help us in our carreer! You can say it’s a 1 in 2!” Jeonghan exclaimed.
“2 in 1.” Joshua murmured correcting him.
“That is exactly what I said.” Jeonghan shrugged it off and turned back to me. He put his hand on my shoulder. “So, what do you say?”
“Alright... I will be there.” I gave in and Jeonghan jumpes up excitedly before high-fiving Joshua. I take a quick glance at Jihoon who smiles with his gaze fixed on the floor.
A few hours later we are already at the top floor of the venue where we had our concert. The dimmed lights and the smoke coming from the smoke machine makes the crowd of dancers look ominous. As we enter we recieve our welcome drinks and head inwards. I am looking for a corner where I can stand and examine the crowd but Jeonghan has other plans in mind.
“Let’s go and have fun!” He says dragging me by the wrist towards the dance floor. I shake my head trying to get out of his grip but no use. When he decides something there is no way around it. If I was the ace he was definetly the queen.
The dance floor is packed. I hardly have any room to lift my hand let alone to dance. I loved dancing. That was my first profession idea when I was growing up. I wanted to be a professional dancer but then we moved to South Korea. In high school it was difficult for me to make friends as I didn’t speak korean at all. My mom thought it would be great if I would try to get involved in school activites so she signed me up for the school band. That is where I met the others and we started a band together. They are really my only friends here.
“Hey I will go and grab something to drink!” I yell over at him trying to be heard over the loud music. I don’t think he heard me clearly but he nods anyway dancing along with the crowd. I manouver out of the crowd and go ever to my prefered corner just to examine and to luckily find the manager from the record label. I sip on my drink and wince. I hate alcohol so much. Suddenly someone bumps into me and spills their drink over me.
“Oh my god! I am so so sorry!” They say wiping off my shirt with their bare hand. I look up to them and reach out for their hand to hold.
“It’s okay.” I say as I look down on my white shirt that is completely covered in red wine. Another shirt to throw away.
“I ruined your shirt.” They say massaging the bridge of their nose. “I guess it’s not my lucky day.” They sigh and we finally lock eyes. “Oh! You are the singer!” They say in awe.
“Yeah...” I giggle shyly at their cute exlamation. “I am Minghao.”
“Y/N! I loved your stage, your band is amazing!” They say and their smile quickly fade away. “I spilled drink over a star... can this get any worse?”
“Oh come on, don’t worry about it. It’s just a simple white shirt. I can go and buy it at any of the clothing shops.” I shrug as I take another sip from my drink, the bitter taste is still awful.
“You don’t like your drink?” They ask and I sigh shaking my head. “Come on then.” They say grabbing my wrist and dragging me towards the bar. They jump over the counter and start mixing something.
“I didn’t know you were working here.” I say as I look around the counter. There is no one around us.
“I am not.” They flash me a smile and I chuckle. “I just thought you could use something to drink that is... actually good.” They hand me over a bright coloured drink with orange on the side. “Try it. If you don’t like it I’ll make another one.” I took a sip and the strawberry taste fills my mouth.
“Does this have alcohol in it?” I ask them surprised.
“Of course.” They say while mixing another drink for themselves.
“It is so good!” I exclaim taking another sip from my drink.
“I am glad! Just don’t forget to stirr it every once in a while so the alcohol won’t sit down on the bottom of the glass.” They say and suddenly a bartender gets closer to us. “Shit we need to get out of here!” They say grabbing my wrist again and dragging me out of the club towards the staircase. They drag me up the stairs. Sometimes I stumble over my own feet but they are holding me securely. We go out on the roof and the chilly wind cools my heated face.
“You are crazy.” I tell them and they giggle adorably.
“I know... but that is the fun part.” They admit it taking a sip from their drink. “So why did you become a musician?”
“That was plan B.”
“What was plan A?” They turn towards me with shining eyes.
“I wanted to be a dancer.”
“A dancer? That’s so cool!”
“Yeah but it was back in China.” I shrug taking another sip.
“Well it is definitely not China but if you want to dance... then go for it.”
“But the band is doing so good... it would be a fault to let them behind... plus they are my friends I wouldn’t have the guts to leave them.” I shake my head.
“Just because you are dacing that does not mean you have to leave them behind. I mean sure you can’t do both at the same time as punk is not the most dance capable music genres but you can still do it for fun! I mean if you really loved dancing why would you stop it for anything?” They encourage me and I smirk.
“You don’t even know if I am any good at dancing.”
“Well first of all you don’t have to be good... second of all why don’t you show me then?” They ask winking at me. I giggle putting down my drink next to me and standing up. They clap for me as I fix my clothes.
“Are you ready to get your mind blown?” I ask and they cheer even more loudly. I am about to start when my phone rings. I quickly pick it up. “Jihoon?”
“Hey where are you? The record label wants to talk with you and we can’t find you anywhere!” He yells into the phone and I can clearly hear Jousha starting a small talk in the background.
“Oh I am on the roof! I will be back inside in a minute, okay?” I hang up and look at my partner apologetically. “Um so... a record label...”
“Go! You will show me that majestic dance the next time!” They hurry me with a sweet smile and I smile back at them before running back inside. At the door I turn back around.
“It was nice meeting you Y/N.” I say and they nod goodbye. I continue running down the stairs and bumping into my bandmates.
“What were you doing?!” Jihoon attacks me and drags me towards the record label.
“I was just hanging out with a new friend.” I explain and Jihoon looks back at me.
“What happened with your shirt?” He asks with a judging look zips up my sweater.
“An... incident.”
“With our lucky eight? Who saw this coming?” He laughs and leads me towards the managers. I smile at the thought of this.
An hour later we say our goodbyes to the managers and they hand us their name cards. They said that our band has potential and that they will definitely contact us in the future. Until then we will be working more on our own music and finding our own sounds and melodies.
“So Eight... tell us what were you doing on the roof?” Jeonghan asks snaking his arm over my shoulders.
“He found a friend.” Jihoon smirked at us while the others had a shocked expression.
“That is why your shirt is ruined?” Joshua points it out.
“I guess they made me unlucky the best way possible.” I looked at my shirt adoringly remembering one of my best nights.
“Are you going to see them again?” Joshua asks.
“I hope so.” I smiled at them but my smile quickly faded. “I don’t know how though.”
“Didn’t you ask for their number?” Jeonghan asks and I shake my head.
“What are you going to do now?” Jihoon asks and I really have no idea. I don’t know how or where I am going to meet them, but i definitely will. Somehow, I will find them.
“The world is filled with art, but I only see you.” with Minghao
How you met Minghao
it happened on a hot summer day
you were walking home after a day well spent with your close friends
the sun was about to set and the weather started to chill after being boiling hot throughout the whole day
you were listening to music pretending you are in a music video
nothing out of ordinary one would say
you were swaying from left to right until something hit you form behind
well someone wrapped their arms around you and both of you fall
to be more exact you fall on top of the stranger as he used his body to shield you from the ground
you wiggled yourself out of his grip and looked at him
he looked up at you squinting his eyes as he slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position
“wow you really are deaf” he said sarcastically with a quirky smirk on his face
“what do you mean?” you asked as you collected your phone from the ground
“i was trying my best not to hit you but you kept swaying from the left to the right so I decided to tell you to look out cause i am trying to pass by but you didn’t even listen and well… here we are now” he said with a smile and you noticed his cute Chinese accent
“oh i am really sorry… i was just enjoying my music.” you blushed then you noticed that his elbow was bleeding
“your arm…” you pointed at it and he lifted up his arm to see the bruise
he winced as he touched it
you quickly searched for a band aid and carefully put it on top of his wound
he stared at you with his mouth slightly agape and you did your best not to lock eyes with him
“there” you said as you fixed the plaster and you stood up
he soon followed and picked up his skateboard that was stopped by a trash can
“well then… i will get going now... bye” you said and turned around to hurry away as you already embarrassed yourself enough
“wait” he said and grabbed your wrist to turn you back around “it was my fault, i hit you… let me make it up to you. lets go and get a milkshake. I know a place downtown.” he said never letting go of your hand
you looked down at his grip to which he quickly released you and scratched the back of his neck
as you looked up into his eyes you couldn’t refuse his offer anymore
“but I don’t even know you” you said as you shook yourself back into reality
“my name is Minghao and that is all you need to know right now.” he said with a smirk
“i’m y/n and I can’t wait to hear more about you.” you smirked back at him which made him smile
then the two of you walked down the street towards the diner ready to get to know each other
