And finally I got something similar to the map ^^. actually the sketch style was designed from the beginng, It looks easy, comic and simple to understand where is “whereabout”.

Then I converted it to digital drawing using Adobe Illustrator. I added colours and legend. As graphic is so detailed in my drawing, I could not use intense colours, so I chose neutral, plain grey and green tones.

Issues: Too many details! Too much different colors - messy look.To keep in style every piece [I got 3 after scan images] took too much time... The last one issue i experienced while trying to decide - how to implement legends for the “key building” for example as bank, shop, restaurant , pharmacy and pub. where students may need to go...

I’m happy with this project, and would be glad if my map will be used by college.

I finished handwork by lining all the drawing with thin black pen.  I liked the way it looks, then I decide to convert it into digital format and work with the computer.

I made a sketch by hand, then to make them more realistic and recognisable I added details. There was a trouble making too detalised map to lose the main points of interest studens may have (e.g. Bank,shop,pub,dining out, etc.), so I picked the most important ones and made them detailed.

Chosen design Part 1:  supposing that main map users going to be young people, I chose to make a map in a informal "3D hand-drawn sketch" style. First  I imagined the looking point being over the roofs and tried to draw the buildings in 3D with perspective.

Map to BFEI

The task :  to create a map for students/visitors  coming to BFEI with a route on it and some noticeable points of interest.

why? Blackrock  is a compact town with quite intense traffic, some of the streets are one-way, restricted parking. There's a large amount of students coming to the town from different places every day to BFEI. Usually, they use public transport,  and most often they come by train. Thats why I  decided to link the route to BFEI with train station.
