Gale loves you, no matter what form you take.

We all know how much he loves Durge and their Slayer form, but what about when you choose to become a Squiddy? ((There are some pretty big spoilers in this post, FYI))

Let me introduce you to Pebble, a barbarian deep gnome.

Pebble was born into slavery in the Underdark and only knew freedom once she took it for herself. However, even on the surface world, she faced countless hardships due to rampant racism and her small size. She grew up loathing herself and who she was and wanted nothing more than be different (or at least taller)

Many would find becoming Illithid to be one of the worst possible things to happen to someone, but once Pebble knew it would make her stronger against the people who oppressed her, she willingly consumed any tadpole she found on her journey to Baldur's Gate. When The Emperor offered the Astral Tadpole to her party, it was the first time she hesitated... Becoming something else entirely was exactly what she had always wished for... but there was something new she had found on her travels that made her stop and think...

Love... No one had ever been as gentle with her as Gale Dekarios was. He had shown her that she could be loved even if she was small, even if she was born a slave. In Gale's eyes, she was worthy of kindness and deserved to be cherished. If he loved her as she was, what would happen if she chose to become a MindFlayer?

Of course, Gale still loved her just the same after choosing to take the Astral Tadpole and become half Illithid. In the final battle, she was the one to make the sacrifice and become a MindFlayer in order to defeat the Nether Brain. Pebble, was overjoyed with her new form. She was finally tall, powerful, a rogue Illithid with no master, no longer a deep gnome forced to live in fear... but would he still want her like this too...

It may take him a moment to process the transformation, but Gale not only loves MindFlayer Tav/Durge for their personality, he also leans into the new form completely, promising to help them find ways to feed their new diet, commenting on their new, squiddy parts, accepting them as they are, mind, body and soul. Still making sure they are as cherished and loved as they deserve to be.

It does not matter what form you take, Gale Dekarios likes you too... very very much <3

All these people pointing fingers at the Emperor, hating on his character and looking for the tiniest, most pointless excuse to call him a terrible person/manipulator/puppet master or the 'true villain' of Baldur's Gate 3, yet when I look at him and the stunts he pulled, all I can think of is: "Eh...I've seen worse."

Maybe I'm missing a few points since I'm still new to BG3 and haven't seen the whole story (I can't even play the game yet), but looking at the Emperor's actions from every angle, they're almost justified in every way. Were they always good? Hell no! But hey, the world of BG3 seems like one of those where everyone has skeletons in their closet they'd rather not share, so why keep pointing fingers at the Emperor?

Is it cause he's a mind flayer and mind flayers are seen as heartless, soulless, pure evil hive-mind beings, despite the fact there's solid proof in the game that not all of them are like that?

Is it because he 'catfished' certain players because said players made their Dream Guardians as smokin' hot as possible so they could hook up with them, only to be dismayed when they find out it was an illusion set up by the Emperor so he could talk to you? Well that's your own damn fault.

Maybe it would've been different had I gone into the game completely blind, but from what I can see, the Emperor's character seriously isn't that bad, and I don't see how most of his actions classify as complete betrayals. As long as you're nice to him and look past the tentacles, he seems like a lonely, flawed but well-meaning dude.

Would my character, Riga the green dragonborn druid, romance him? Nah, I'll let the memes take care of that. I can see Riga and the Emperor having a platonic friendship or possible mentorship, and while Riga would be conflicted and a bit distrustful after learning about some of the Emperor's actions, in the end she'd call him 'scalefriend' (she'd call anyone she considers dear friends that) and would jump off a cliff to save him the same way he'd save her at the beginning (Saying that, cause my imagination ran a liiiiittle wild after seeing @inkegg 's artwork and post. And because of said artwork and post, the "Last Catch" theme from Tears of the Kingdom won't stop playing in my head now).

I've been so inspired by the tarot cards of Dragon Age: Inquisition that this Emperor just happened. Straight up spawned.

A wee custom design for my tavflayer, Vanquish 😈🐙

Notes:

Wanted to incorporate some of her former Tiefling features into it, especially her crest. May play around more with that.

Kept her love of accessorising and tattoos.

She kept her hair tied back a lot. Transferred that into her keeping her tentacles draped over her shoulders a lot 🤣

She's still pacted and bound to her GOO patron, Caiphon. Hence the focus fused to her wrist and the purple bleeding through her skin.
