Yaaaaaaaaaaay ::D ::D ::D I couldn’t decide between Paracosm or Heartglow so... have both.
Paracosm Extract; original novel:
"But you weren't successful," Bharat murmured, more to himself than them, "You're lucky to be alive. You know that?"
Heartglow Extract; MCSM fanfiction:
The lights were brilliant and the stalls were a cluster of noise and laughter and chatter; he passed multiple people who were dressed as a member of the Order, and he was half-certain that there really was a particularly sour lemon stuck to his tongue.
Before The Beginning and POV for the writing ask game!
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu ::D ::D ::D (I wrote this one other time but then accidentally closed the tab and lost all my progress T^T)
Before the Beginning:
Bharat sighed, a throb spiking in his temple. He rubbed long fingers along the bridge of his nose in an attempt to soothe it, but it little to do so. He was exhausted, three all-nighters and a hundred or so cups of coffee weighing heavily on his shoulders. He wanted nothing more than to flop into bed and sleep for a good few years. Paperwork, he decided, was going to be the death of him.
If Maude didn’t do it first, anyway.
She was sitting on the floor, slumped against the wall with a bottle of- something clutched loosely in her hand. Her eyes were glazed (her blind one was always glazed, but it was only when she was like this that both of them were) and her face was flushed red. She didn’t even seem to realise he was there, mumbling incoherently to herself about something or the other.
He closed his eyes and took a few deep, even breaths. His head spiked and he grimaced. Why did the people he care about have to always be such- such idiots?
“Bha’ert!” Maude abruptly exclaimed, having apparently realised he was standing right next to her. She raised her bottle of something in greeting, her arm swaying unsteadily and causing some to spill on the floor. She had a big, drunken grin on her face. “Wha’ a’e oo doin’ ‘ere?”
“You’re sitting outside my office,” Bharat drawled, “I work here.”
“Ugh,” Maude slumped further against the wall, pulling a face, “Whurk sucks.”
“So does my friend drinking unsafe amounts of alcohol,” he stepped forward, nudging the bottle away from her hand despite her mumbled sounds of protest. He bent down and hauled her to her feet, holding her steady when she swayed and almost fell again. She exclaimed something completely indecipherable and slumped against him, giggling quietly. He shook his head.
“Come on,” he said, tugging her arm around his shoulders, “Let’s get you home.”
POV:
Jiao clamped his hands over his mouth, trying hard to stifle his giggles. Above him, the springs of the bed shifted as the child (a boy) shifted uneasily. He could practically smell his fear, the way his eyes were darting from shadow to shadow, how he’d worked himself up into a state of paranoia. Jiao had been so lucky to have been able to slip through; it had been just big enough. Just enough fear.
Of course, Jiao wasn’t here for the fear, even if he was there because of it. He just wanted to have some fun with the boy.
(That’s what friends did, right? Have fun with each other?)
Yeah. He and the boy would have a grand old time.
Jiao sharpened his teeth and his claws and felt the skin on his back ripple. His legs weren’t even aching today. It was a good day. A great day, even.
Finally- Finally, he thought, as he carefully slid out from under the bed.
Some company.
Bharat’s done with Maude’s bullcrap.
I promise Bharat doesn’t look that much like MCSM Ivor in my head. I can’t unsee it now. Why, art style. Why.
🖊 Bharat!
Thank you!! Bharat Ito owns the Dreamcatcher Bookstore in a little town in south England called Tillyflower! He’s friendly with his neighbours, but his only proper friend is Maude Wood (although he certainly never minds running into Ms Hart, the neighbourhood grandmother), who lives on a farm just outside of town. He’s Indian-Japanese, with one of his mums being Indian and his other being Japanese, and grew up frequently travelling between the two countries. He went to university in England and met Maude there!
Nowadays, he’s protecting and taking care of Remi, doing a bit of a, ah... side job, and maintaining his bookstore. He really enjoys those quiet hours after dinner where he can sit down with some tea and read a book!
