Trishul is a 1978 drama film, written by Salim Javed, directed by Yash Chopra, and produced by Gulshan Rai. It features music by Mohammed Zahur Khayyam, with lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. The film was a "Super Hit" at the box office, and one of the top grossers of 1978, along with Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Don.

The film inspired the Tamil Kamal Hassan starrer, Kadal Meengal, and the Malayalam film Meen starring Madhu and Jayan. The movie has been remade in Tamil as Mr. Bharath and in Telugu as Mr. Bharath starring Shoban Babu.

The film focuses on the three intertwined stories of Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, and Shashi Kapoor. The other cast includes Raakhee, Hema Malini Poonam Dhillon and Sachin.

★ I’m not Playing the Villain in Salman’s Radhe: Bharath!

When we’d called up Bharath for a quick chat, he had just finished a rigorous workout session. While that’s been part of his routine for years now, there’s an extra zing to it because this is also part of the prep work he’s doing for his second Bollywood film — Prabhudheva and Salman Khan’s Radhe! “Prabhu master is a good friend; I’ve known him for almost 10 years now. He appreciates good talent and believes in hard work. He’s been following my work since 555. I was at Jayam Ravi’s birthday celebrations when he called me to ask if I’d be willing to do a pivotal role in a film that he was making with Salman. I couldn’t believe it, but I realised he was serious when he said they wanted me onboard fast because they were starting shoot soon,” says Bharath. Buzz is, he is playing the antagonist in the film. “No, I am not the villain in the film. Randeep Hooda is playing that role. I play a cop, someone who’s always with Salman sir’s character. In fact, Prabhu master asked me if I would be okay with the role because I’m also playing the hero in Tamil films. But it’s a good opportunity for me, a very good role. So, I signed it without any hesitation. Prabhu master told me that I have to look stylish, and rough and tough at the same time. So, I beefed up a bit; I’m still working on my body now,” says the actor, adding that he’s already shot for three days in Mumbai. Ask him about his experience of sharing screen space with Salman, and he says, “We used to bump into each other when we played CCL matches. But working with him was different. I was a little awestruck when I had to do a dialogue scene with him. But that’s also my fanboy moment.”
