Re my last rb actually I think ISAT denizens should put a lot more focus into patterns instead of individual shades. With colors you can create striking contrast between neon red and blue but if you grayscale it you'll get the exact same shade or a very unnoticeable difference at most so you'd need to use other ways to make that gap.

So: patterns! {Shade: darkless/light/midtone/dark/lightless} on {Shade: ...} {Pattern: halftone/zigzag/stripes/bars/plain/etc} !! And treat them like new "shades"! Maybe people could even have favourite patterns to go with fav shades, or even have a third spot for combos they particularly like.

And ISAT being wholly in monochrome makes me think of all the little ways we use color but that they'd have to find replacements for: pattern-coding rubics cube squares, different styles of underlines when taking notes instead of using highlighters or different colored pens (rolling stamps). When drawing they'd use cross-hatching or patterns or maybe cutting out manga screentones.

Imagine books from before colors disappeared with drawings/icons now incomprehensible due to the lack of contrast, carefully remade into "visible" pieces via increasing contrast or like before swapping two close shades into diff patterns.

Clothes should have so many different patterns and textures to pick from on the account of color theory not existing. Let them invent pattern theory and debate which patterns go with which ones and what clashes when put together.

Writing the plot outline for my shadowvanilla fic and im strugglinggg what could a stripped of his powers, recently relocated to the vanilla kingdom and very much bitter SM do in his free time. AND while being supervised by black raisin most of the time.
