It’s learning to memorize dates, keep every document, and carry proof of your life together like armor. It’s celebrating small victories — a letter, an approval, a step forward — because you know how easily the process can break people.
It’s loving someone who is homesick and hopeful at the same time. It’s building a life in a place that doesn’t always feel like it wants you. It’s holding each other through uncertainty, through cultural misunderstandings, through the ache of being far from family.
And yet, there’s a tenderness in it too. A closeness that grows in the cracks of fear and hope. A deeper kind of commitment that comes from surviving things together most couples never have to think about.
