Do you think asexuals should be part of LGBT+ community?
To be honest I am not very much educated and well informed when it comes to Asexuals and the Asexual community and even their struggles inside society. I know general stuff but I do not think I am as well informed as I would have liked. I have not even -to my knowledge anyway- interacted with an asexual person so far.
I do not know how asexuals respond into the LGBT community and how the rest of that community reacts towards asexuals. The LGBTQIA acronym also exists and it is a fact asexuals face their own issues and oppression inside a mostly sexually and heterosexually oriented world.
Generally speaking I think that asexuals should of course be part of the LGBT+ community because this community is meant to embrace and support people that face certain issues inside this world due to their sexual orientation. But this is not just about sex. It is about understanding and tolerance and acceptance and solidarity and diversity. And all people need the sense of belonging into a world and a community that is ready to hug everyone and understand their problems and struggles. It is not even a matter of who is having it worse. I think it is matter of people uniting and making a better world based on freedom and equality on all fronts.
Watched this. Watch it too. It is the episode on racism. Great insights. It is true that what we lack is, among other things, a leader who speaks out.
