My father would have been 98 today. Not that he came close; he died a week short of his 70th birthday, a direct result of a life of heaving smoking.
He would be pleased to know this picture remains on the wall of fame at Paradise Lodge at Fletcher’s Floodwater, near the town of Lachine, in northeast Michigan.
In the mid 1970s, my parents, who both loved to fish, sold their home in Detroit, bought a small boat, and moved into a mobile home near the floodwater, where their main activities were catching big pike and showing their frequent visitors how to catch big pike. They soon became the local experts.
One of my nephews dropped by Paradise Lodge recently and was surprised to see this photo of his uncle (my dad) on the wall, along with other big-fish photos.
