Just a reminder, if you're going to do an outfit with a giant skirt an old fashioned cage crinoline is a way to go. They do collapse, you can sit on them, check videos by Prior Attire etc, and depending on how you walk you can make them wobble. Imagine who or what you could hide under there.

There’s no particular reason for their clothes other than me wanting to draw big skirts and plant patterns.

I hope you're having a lovely day! :) Any advice for a lady interested in wearing poofy floor length skirts on the regular? Are they much harder to move about in than lolita skirts? Would ankle length be more advisable or is there no particular difference once past mid calf?

They are slightly easier to move about in than the standard lolita skirts, because they're not right at shelf/table height. There's less risk of knocking things onto the floor.

I would say ankle length skirts are better than floor length ones, because there are less problems with puddles, damp hems, catching the skirt on your boot heels, and so on.
