y’all know that this shit gonna be BIG
shen’s family insists on a traditional chinese wedding, but shen makes them drop a whole bunch of the traditions because they’re long and tedious and boring. a bunch of shen’s relatives disprove of this, but nainai shuts them down real quick
you know that scene where shang’s like “your grandmother invited some people to our wedding.” “who?” “china.” that’s what this is.
it’s the most untraditional traditional wedding tho lmao
chinese weddings usually last multiple days, and has separate receptions for the groom’s family and the bride’s family. so the first wedding is on the fa family property, while the second wedding is back at the land of sweets.
kirsa’s bridal party consists of xiaoli and the stalhbums, while shen’s groomsmen are jin and simon. ( @xiacli, @thekingofsweets, @frcderick, @jinxiiang, @simonthegator )
kirsa’s favorite part of the whole thing is after the bachelorette party, because when shen comes to pick her up, the bridal party gets to test the groom. kirsa gets locked in her room, while the bridal party puts the groom and his groomsmen through challenges ( eating spoonfuls of wasabi, making the boys transfer seaweed to each other mouth-to-mouth, whatever they feel like making the boys do ). basically, they all get to watch the groomsmen do dumb stuff so shen can prove his love for kirsa before he whisks her away to their probably ridiculously expensive wedding.
there’s tea ceremonies and stuff, but they only sit through that for all the red envelopes they get.
shen and kirsa probably just eat and dance the whole time at the reception and some relatives get pissed because they really are supposed to being paying their respects to the guest but nainai is just: “ he’s our guardian spirit and she’s magical, you should be paying your respects to them. ” and no one really wants to argue with the woman who gave birth to the savior of china.
the only go visit the people they feel like visiting tbh
the ancestors somehow also get involved, mushu gets excited and sets something on fire, and people wonder if they should have just stayed at home.
they take like a billion selfies throughout the night, but shen sets the one of the two of them in their hotel room after the wedding, lying in a bed covered in all the red envelopes they got, as his screensaver.
then they head to the land of sweets to do it all over again in a second wedding that is probably just as ridiculously frivolous and over the top, and the two love every second of it.
