Let me start by saying... Heat is incredible. They’re knowledgable about their products, they’re passionate as hell, and their customer service is stellar. No, they’re not paying me to say this - they’re just that wonderful. If you need sauce, I definitely recommend Heat as one of your primary shopping locations.
Holé Molé is, as its name implies, based flavor-wise off molé sauce. Habanero gives it its main heat, and it does in fact contain actual chocolate for a proper flavor profile. This one was voted and created on by a chilihead Facebook group called “For the Love of Hot Sauce,” and I think they did a spectacular job. Between the rich chocolate undertones and sweetness from blackberry juice, this sauce gives the flavor of molé that would be lovely on so many things, such as tacos or grilled chicken.
Joy Ride from Bigfat’s is a garlic sauce balanced with fresh vegetables (sweet bell pepper, carrot, and oregano), utilizing habanero for heat. This is a vinegar-based sauce so I was aprehensive (I’m usually not a huge fan of most vinegar sauces), but this one had me pleasantly surprised. The overall flavor is pretty mild and balanced, so strong foods will definitely drown it out, but the garlic flavor works really nice with burgers and fries, chicken, quesadillas, and the like. I’m glad I got to try it, but I honestly would not purchase it again, since I like my sauces a little... punchier. It’s definitely worth it for people who like things on the more mild end, though!
Last up, Heat’s a Peach from Lucky Dog... I love Lucky Dog. They make some of my favorite sauces of all time, and the guy who runs the operation is a passionate person who loves what he does, and I can really get on board with that. This sauce is no exception to that passion. It’s lightly sweet (peach is the first ingredient), and remarkably well balanced, as all Lucky Dog sauces are (he prides himself on a good balance of flavor and heat). Heat’s a Peach will warm you with its peach, carrot, and garlic flavors, and then smack you in the face with a trinidad scorpion. The sweetness is well-balanced and doesn’t overpower. The card given with the subscription box recommends using it as a marinade, on pizza, or mixed with BBQ sauce, but I also think it would go great on chicken and pork.
