I'm into cryptids and paranormal stuff myself but I get annoyed when people point at news articles and historical accounts of children lost in the wilderness who say a "hairy man" or whatever kept them warm at night and showed them where to get berries etc. and assert that obviously the kid is referring to a sasquatch, because like, that's erasing the obvious real explanation which I think is way cooler and weirder, which is that a fucking mother bear mistook these kids for bear cubs and kept them safe, which happens because female bears instinctively adopt abandoned cubs because animals are amazing
