I don't think I can ever get over how amazing Joon is. His kindness and goodwill is so much more than we deserve. I respect him more than words can describe. And because of him I think the members can leave their prides and egos at the door. They can truly work together to help each other without having to step on each other. 💜

hi! just wondering if you've seen this and if you have any thoughts?
Hi @pauls-mccharmly, thanks for sending me the link.
This Vice clip is something that aligns with what we usually see when it comes to someone very famous, especially when there's a show about them or usually a documentary. This usually happens when a public figure or a band has reached incredible heights so every little detail becomes important, even if it's adjacent. Like bringing back people who knew them since childhood or have been there right before they got a certain level of success. It works in the favor of the group, contributing to their aura, of being special. This is the effect of such testimonies because they have been in the presence of greatness before they became great and everyone in the world knows them. There is nothing special in particular about this man's story. He is one of many others who trained as an idol and who didn't make the cut. But his story receives a spotlight because of the association he has with BTS.
As to his views, and looking at the comments on youtube as well, it seems that there's a sense of acceptance and army sees him as being humble, without any jealousy. That is sustained by the way in which he focuses on them as his friends during his trainee days, and not as superstars. But there's also a lot of regret there and how even now, he still has the need to be famous. And this is one important aspect. He mentions how hard it was for him to not make the cut because he wanted to sing, but he also mentions fame. That's something important as well in the industry. It's not just about someone's incredible passion for singing, but also about getting famous and becoming an idol in particular can bring that opportunity.
