We were startled by an Elk in our campsite last night at Big Meadows Campground near Wolf Creek Pass in the Rio Grande National Forest. Being in bear country, we were glad it was "just" an elk. We left the lights off and when I opened the bedroom window and stuck out my head, I saw him run uphill quickly in the moonlight. Capturing the stary sky in Shenandoah National park at midnight.  The camera caught the light pollution my eyes didn't. It was a freezing 55 degrees, I know I have tropical bones.
