The History Exam, for the classic, scientific and teaching diploma: my grandma’s Bignami textbook from 1960, which she used to revise for her teaching diploma -- and to doodle some lovely-looking ladies in.

Born in 1931 from the mind of literature teacher Ernesto Bignami, the Biblioteca Scolastica Bignami is a series of paperback compendia summarising the topics covered by the Italian middle and high school program. Commonly known as bignami or bignamini, and having inspired many copycats in their wake, they were and still are a big part of Italian culture and school, with students to this day using them to revise the most varied of topics.
