“Bike Oregon Wine Country” with Eola Hills Wine Cellars
(Rickreall, Oregon) – Cyclists will discover the beauty of Oregon’s wine country on daylong cycling tours held on Sundays in July and August, and organized by Eola Hills Wine Cellars. Guided by winery staff, cyclists will tour the scenic back roads of the mid-Willamette Valley wine country, stopping at wineries to taste and order wines. Routes vary, visiting between 2-7 wineries and one regional brewery, and may include a cycling through a covered bridge and taking a ferry across the Willamette River.
Riders of all abilities are welcome. Short and long loops vary in difficulty, from easy to challenging, and range between 40-70 miles. Support vehicles offer riders a lift when needed. A box lunch and water stops are provided during the ride. Salmon barbecue and wine tasting on the winery’s patio follow every ride.
When and where
All rides start and end at the Eola Hills Wine Cellars winery, located at 501 S. Pacific Hwy 99W, Rickreall, OR 97371. Rides depart 8am sharp (7:30am check-in), and end around 4 pm.
Northern Route: July 31 and August 7, 21
45 or 52-mile loop, moderate to difficult with gradual rolling hills and several steep hills. Stops at up to seven wineries.
Southern Route: August 14, 28
45-mile loop is easy to moderate with flat stretches and gentle rolling hills; 70-mile loop more challenging. Stops at two-four wineries plus one brewery; a covered bridge and ferry across the Willamette River.
