Bill Dellinger (left) and Steve Prefontaine place their arms around one another. Dellinger, from Grants Pass, was a top distance runner for the University of Oregon in his own right. He won a bronze medal in the 5,000 meters in the 1964 Olympics and later helped coach Prefontaine as part of the U.S. National team. Dellinger later went on to become head track coach at UO in 1972.
