The uniqueness of the struggle to free the Cuban 5 was that, unlike most struggles, it was clearly framed in time from the moment they were arrested in Miami on September 12, 1998, for defending their homeland from terrorist attacks organized in that very city to their release on December 17, 2014, through that narrow window that opened for a brief moment under Obama.

Solidarity with Palestine in San Francisco

On May 15, large demonstrations took place in the U.S. and around the world, including here in the San Francisco Mission District where over 10,000 Palestinians and their supporters marched in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance and to condemn the genocidal assault in Gaza of the US supported Israeli government.

Oakland, Calif., city council passes resolution regarding Cuba and the United States

A resolution supporting medical and scientific collaboration between the City of Oakland California and the Country of Cuba to address the COVID-19 health crisis was passed unanimously Oct. 20. The resolution also urged the U.S. Congress to remove restrictions on collaboration by suspending economic and travel sanctions against Cuba.
