I saw Billy Bragg perform his first of a three night stint at The Hollywood, Avondale. He was spellbinding. What a fabulous human, entertainer and songsmith. Happy bloody Friday.

Billy Bragg - Bridges Not Walls [EP] (2017)
Billy Bragg regressou cheio de preocupações e bom música. É um mini álbum, mas grande em canções e significado.
Bridges Not Walls é o novo disco de Billy Bragg.

It was the moneylenders that Christ threw out of the temple not the gays, if I remember correctly.

Ian McLagan Dies - Music Loses Another Legend
2014 has not been a great year for the music world; we've lost a number of greats including Jack Bruce, Johnny Winter, Phil Everly, Gerry Goffin, Tommy Ramone and Big Foot favourite Alvin Stardust.
The news this morning that Ian McLagan had died was not only a shock, but a loss that feels very personal. The majority of us have never met the people whose art plays a big part in our lives, some of us are too young to have seen them perform or experience their work during "its day", and even though their music, writing, films and artwork will survive them, finding out about their deaths still isn't easy.
I'm a big Small Faces fan. They were great and I love them, it's as simple as that. I suppose it's fair to say that Mac wasn't exactly the star of the show, that award goes to the late Steve Marriott, but that's not to say that the rest of the group were simply his backing band - far from it. Mac played a huge part in the sound they created and his iconic Hammond Organ & Wurlitzer sound was so perfect for the music that it's impossible to imagine any of their songs without it.
After Marriott left to pursue new musical ambitions with Humble Pie, the rest of the band drafted in Ronnie Wood & Rod Stewart to take over on vocals and guitar. No longer all short in stature, they dropped the Small, became The Faces, and continued their success until the band's split in 1975.
Like the late Bobby Keys, who sadly died the day before Mac, he became an unofficial member of The Rolling Stones. He also played with a whole host of musical legends, including Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Joe Cocker, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Billy Bragg and plenty more.
His Autobiography "All The Rage" is a music lover's dream, with tales of living, working, and partying throughout rock's greatest era. One of my favourite stories is that of his awkward relationship with Keith Moon. After divorcing Keith following their difficult marriage, Kim Moon had turned to Ian as a friend and their relationship soon progressed. Playing the part of the jealous ex perfectly, Keith has caused a number of problems for them, culminating in him paying someone to break all of Mac's fingers (and presumably end his musical career). After catching on to the plan, Pete Townshend tracked down and paid the unknown heavy an equal amount NOT to do it. So the hired thug ended up with twice the money for none of the work, and Mac kept his fingers intact. Kim & Mac stayed together until her death in 2006, and Pete earned the name Uncle Pete in their household following the incident.
Ian McLagan was an old fashioned, hard-working musician who never stopped playing and contributed to some of the greatest hits still loved today. Check out Tin Soldier (Small Faces), Stay With Me (The Faces) & Miss You (The Rolling Stones) and remember Mac with a Happy Days Toy Town Newspaper Smile!
If you're lonely, I will call If you're poorly, I will send poetry I love you I am the milkman of human kindness I will leave an extra pint If you're sleeping, I will wait If your bed is wet, I will dry your tears I love you I am the milkman of human kindness I will leave an extra pint Hold my hand for me I'm waking up Hold my hand for me I'm waking up Hold my hand for me I'm making up Won't you hold my hand - I'm making up If you are falling, I'll put out my hands If you feel bitter, I will understand I love you I am the milkman of human kindness I will leave an extra pint
