In fact, as a kid, I always wanted to stay awake and stare out the window on road trips, so I wouldn’t miss a thing. Mysterious new discovery Billy-On takes us on a very scenic sonic route on his latest single. A smooth warbling experimental electro-pop and alt pop song with glassy sharp edges, rubbery synths, and a hypnotic, foggy drawl. Scenic Route is sort of like Deptford Goth paired with Ben Khan, but with less funk curls and more industrial texture. We wish we knew more about this innovative artist. Like Scenic Route, it’s very edgy and heady, a fresh and unique number that even carries some Grimes eccentricity and dark gothy allure.
