“Nobody works with me. People work for me.”
Given the real historical background of the series, there must be some characters who aren’t simply fiction, right? Besides Winston Churchill (obviously), there are in fact some men who were active in real life. First, there is William “Billy” Kimber, who was the leader of a gang called the Birmingham Boys. Second, we have Charles 'Darby' Sabini, a gang leader from London. He worked together with no other than Alfie Solomons. Together they held control over the underground world of North London and many race tracks across England. They offered protection for bookmakers at the races, events which drew in many people from all social classes. The protection being highly profitable, gangs such as the Birmingham Boys around Billy Kimber wanted to get involved. In what ways Sabini, Kimber and Solomons met, we will expand on in our stories.
