Rwanda (Slanted Special Issue) Available at www.draw-down.com A Slanted special issue that presents outstanding personalities and many good stories in addition to "design eye-candy" from Rwanda Plastic bags? Forbidden since 2004. Environmental management is decentralized from the political to the local level, leading to a widespread understanding of how to preserve the environment. On the last Saturday of the month, for example, every citizen is obliged to tidy up the streets. Beginning in 2019, no more used clothing from the West may be imported to Rwanda—a ban that could create around 25,000 new jobs, and encourage the flourishing of the country's textile industry. To see a developing country implement and carry out such legislations is ground-breaking. It goes to show—anything can be possible if the political will really exists and true efforts are made. It is this creative spirit that's embraced in this special issue. Malawi is set to become the latest country in Africa to ban plastic bags! The country's original ban, passed in 2015, had previously been overturned following pressure from plastics manufacturers. On Thursday, seven judges ruled that the ban must be upheld after all. It's a win for environmentalists and all those campaigning on the SDGs to protect life on land and life below water. @leonardodicaprio #Regram #RG @ajplus: "It's toxic to us." Plastic bags and toilet seats. Hundreds of discarded fishing nets. All of this was stuck to the seabed of Greece’s Andros island. Volunteers collected over 660 lbs of plastic waste. But some say the microplastics leave an invisible imprint on the environment and even ourselves. They can be consumed by fish that then become a part of our diet. #environment #pollution #plasticbags #coralreefs #greece #seabed #fishingnets #microplastics #coral #plastic #ocean #sealife #sea #fish #trash #zerowaste #plasticfree #recycle #reef #underwater #oceanlife #marinelife #rubbish #reef #sea #miroplastic #underwaterphoto #saveouroceans #conservationofficer https://www.instagram.com/p/B0_RsHGleAG/?igshid=ncztngaftl6e
