I’m rewatching Memories of the Alhambra and knowing the outcome, I wanted to cry when Jin-Woo’s secretary, Jung-Hoon, came on screen for the first time.

Jung -Hoon is sweet and caring and loyal and just endures everything his boss dishes out.

His death, his return and his final ending by Jin-Woo devastated me the most. I actually grieved his passing.

Kudos to the writers and directors, to Hyun Bin and to Min Jin-Woong for making me feel those emotions from a simple TV series.

I have been a Kdrama fanatic ever since.

The Negotiation

An ace crisis negotiator faces off against a cold-blooded hostage taker. Over the course of 21 hours, she attempts to crack his calm demeanor and force him to reveal his motivations.

Well-made, tense thriller from South Korea. Though once the story enters the situation room, you quickly realise that something is wrong and get an idea where the story in general is headed.

It's also a bit unfortunate that, as the story unfolds, it gets less about the "negotiation" situation. The usually capable negotiater gets increasingly portrayed as being emotional and for a long stretch disappears into the background.

Late Autumn

A woman imprisoned after killing her husband is allowed her release. On her way to Seattle, a man gets on the same bus. Introducing himself as a fellow Korean, he borrows the bus fare from her and leaves his watch behind. When the two meet again, they feel an attachment to each other.

An interesting two-hander. Charming, quiet, melancholic, at times a little slow. With an unexpected, tragic ending.

The third lead character is played by a (mostly) foggy Seattle. The city isn't shown in an obtrusively touristy way. But you still get interested in the city.
