I just finished making my first front closure bra!! It's something i've wanted to make for a while and i've been working on it for a few weeks now and it's finally done!
It's more of a bralette or sports bra and it doesn't have any padding or specific shape, it's entirely flat, but it's made out of higher quality materials than i could otherwise afford and it's custom made to my measurements. Because of the stretchiness of the jersey fabric i chose, the flat shape of the pattern and because i was able to choose my exact measurements, i was even able to get a bit of a binding effect without actually binding my chest!! This is huge for me because i can't use actual chest binders or tape for disability reasons. (Don't try this yourself unless you are familiar with pattern making and know how much you can safely alter your measurements and patterns!)
It's got push buttons on the front and it takes me only one hand to close those and for taking the bra off i can pretty much just rip it off. It's so amazingly easy and i don't have to worry about accidentally dislocating half my arm joints when i put it on.
I am so happy about this and i'm definitely going to experiment more with this in the future!!
so im using transtape for the first time ever and my initial thoughts are-
-thank GOD i read every detail abt it bc YES if you over stretch the tape, IT WILL RIP YOUR SKIN. also patch test first. i didn't but its on the instructions and you should. don't be me. -doesn't quite feel as flat as a binder but i think its actually gives more of a natural pec look -its uncomfortable (at first) in its own way just like a binder is uncomfortable in its own way too -it took me 5 tries to figure out how to place it right and for a roll thats not very big, it did feel like a bit of a waste -once i got it right; GENDER EUPHORIA!!
but overall i think i'd just get a large roll of KT tape bc it does the same thing and you get more for your buck idk
(SOME ADDITIONS)
-wash your chest sides of your back before applying it to remove oils and deodorant which will stop it from sticking -rub the tape with your hand after sticking to activate the adhesive -to take it off, take a hot shower or use an oil like baby oil or coconut oil or else you might literally rip chunkS of your skin off srry
Please spread the word on this! If you can't afford a proper binder or binders don't work for you then buy a nike victory compression bra. I can't post images in an ask but I am a c cup and just one (in x large; no need to buy small so get comfy) reduced my profile by at least half. They're very comfortable and come in a lot of colors. Best part is I've yet to find a place selling one for over 30 dollars!
Nice find! That’ll be a huge help for a lot of people, thank you so much!
