Dr. Kleist got all sorts of accolades from his IRIS colleges, and his humility shines through, because just after Dr Jung finishes saying how he prays on the spot for people (in emails or whatnot) and Dr Thoennes just said how Dr Kleist's father died right as we were heading into this time of IRIS, Dr Kleist not only turns the accolades back to his colleges, but also mentions a student in the program who's grandfather died just last night, how this student's grandfather was like a father to her because her grandparents raised her, and prays for her in the middle of session.
that's what i love about Biola. the professors not only care so much about the students, but about each other, and they are incredible, shining examples of what our walk with the Lord should look like.
if you are on the fence about either coming to Biola or going somewhere else, LISTEN TO ME RIGHT NOW. Biola is the only place i have experienced a community that reflects the church outside of a church building setting. it is an academia setting primarily, but this school is so incredibly dedicated to bringing biblical learning to it's students. this place has the best community i've ever experienced in my life. students are respectful to one another (most of the time; we are still part of fallen humanity and have some of the same stresses of other colleges, Christian or not), professors respect their students because they know and understand that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and we all have this sense of Christ and his presence here. and Christ is the center of it all. that's what's most important: Christ is the center of all we do.
that being said, God is showing his glory through all of this, through what this school is about. i love it here. i can't imagine being anywhere else.
