Any other homemade pet food makers out there? Dogfood making day takes over my kitchen every couple of weeks! A couple years ago, we put her on an elimination diet of just meat and rice, then gradually added things in. When we found out peanut butter was the culprit to her pink eyes, we went back to buying dogfood and skipping the peanut butter. This winter, she suddenly started losing all of the hair off her sides. Our once excited #amstaffy was almost lethargic. The vet told us to drop whatever meat we were giving her, a commercial turkey blend. Switched to a lamb blend and she improved, but her hair wasn't really growing back-so I decided to start making it again. So far, she's allergic to all poultry, eggshell, chicken liver, etc. Her coat grew back in 5 days. Everything commercially made has chicken byproduct in it, so this is a new permanent routine. Honestly, it's kind of fun. Takes up a morning every two weeks, but she's worth it. It's about the same price, sometimes cheaper, than bag dogfood, it just takes time. But, filled with meat and solid ingredients is the way God intended, and her demeanor shows it.
