Today for our Sunday Funday of @aniedireland's #100daysofenrichment we revisited day 25's destruction and dissection with a @feednaturaw tub. Cadvan loooooves to perform end of prey sequence behaviours like deathshakes, plucking, gutting, dissecting. It's his terrier genes coming out, and I try and facilitate that as much as possible. His toys are his to do as he likes with, and I try and buy and offer toys that allow him to engage in those behaviours in the first place. He's also allowed to rip some things up. However the rules for the game are that it has to be safe for him, easy for me to tidy up, and also not destroying enrichment meant for my many rodents. Unfortunately a lot of his preferred versions of the game don't fit this. This is A Problem because part of me managing chronic illness life is that I just... don't have the energy to spare for cleanup of dog fun as then both my other animals and my self care suffers. Over the winter it's really hard, and I'm forever 'practicing' his leave cue over unsuitable items that he seems to magic out of the air. But once the outside warms up a whole new easy-tidy environment becomes available - woo! The Naturaw tubs are particularly good for this. They're plastic free, but rather than being made from cardboard they're made from sugarcane pulp. This is great for defrosting the raw itself (no leaks), but also means the resulting surface is textured. Know what stick to textured sugarcane? Raw mince. MorilCat might claim that ALL of the mince should be in his face, but by re-freezing the tub after portioning out, a wonderful enrichment toy is created! #canineenrichment #dogenrichment #enrichmentfordogs #rawfeddogs #rawfeddogs #terriermix #dogsofyorkshire #yorkshiredogs https://www.instagram.com/p/B-4xr43FrQO/?igshid=ik8veutwyg2m

A Little Laugh About Vets Who Still Believe Dogs Should Only Eat Kibble
Let’s be honest… nothing gets raw-feeding dog parents fired up faster than hearing a vet say, “Your dog should really be eating kibble.”
Meanwhile, our dogs are at home thriving, shining coats, tiny waistlines, sparkling teeth… practically glowing like they just stepped out of a canine spa.
But still some vets act like kibble is the holy grail of dog nutrition. So, naturally, I can’t help but laugh a little.
The Kibble Conversation We’ve All Had
You walk into the vet’s office. You’re feeling proud. Your dog looks amazing. The vet walks in with a smile and says the classic line:
“So… what are we feeding?”
You answer: “Raw.”
And immediately—boom. The pause. The deep inhale. The concerned eyebrow raise that could win an Oscar.
You’d think you just told them you’re feeding your dog glowing space rocks harvested from Mars.
Meanwhile… the Dogs Eating Raw Look Like Olympians
My dog, Ranger, eats raw and:
His coat shines like he’s in a shampoo commercial
His teeth are white like he brushes twice a day
His energy is amazing
His poop is tiny (which honestly should be an advertisement all by itself)
But sure, let’s all pretend kibble is the only option.
The Kibble Loyalty Is Strong
Some vets talk about kibble like it’s handcrafted by angels in a temperature-controlled cloud kitchen. If you question it even slightly, it’s like you’ve just insulted their favorite sports team.
Meanwhile, your dog is at home crunching bones, wagging tails, and thriving like Mother Nature herself wrote their meal plan.
All Jokes Aside…
Every dog is different, every owner is different, and every vet comes from a specific nutritional background. But it is funny sometimes how strongly some stick to kibble as the end-all be-all solution.
Because at the end of the day? We all just want what makes our dogs happiest, healthiest, and living their best life.
And if that means raw bowls full of fresh goodness instead of dry pellets… well, Ranger sure isn’t complaining.

Why Feeding Ranger the Best Isn’t Optional—It’s Who I Am as His Dog Mom
When I brought Ranger home, it wasn’t “for fun.” It wasn’t because I wanted a cute accessory or something to keep me busy. I got Ranger because I wanted to be a mom his mom. I wanted to love, protect, and care for him like a child for every single day he’s blessed to be here with me… until the day he goes to run with Jesus.
From the very beginning, I knew one thing: Feeding him the best wasn’t optional. It was a responsibility.
Our Raw Journey Started Early
The goal was raw from day one. And at 12 weeks old, Ranger officially became a fully raw-fed pup and he has been thriving ever since.
Every time we walk into the vet’s office, I hear the same things:
“His coat is so soft.”
“His skin looks amazing.”
“His weight is perfect.”
“He looks incredible!”
And yet… they still look at me with a straight face and tell me to put him on kibble. Kibble. Ummm… no. Absolutely not. We’re not doing that.
What Raw Feeding Looks Like for Us
I’ve done it all:
🥩 Homemade raw – fresh, balanced, intentional. 🍖 Subscription services like Farmer’s Dog and RawFedK9 – super convenient and honestly, really great. 💸 And yes… the subscriptions are easier, but let’s be real: they get expensive fast.
No matter which route we’re using at the time, one thing never changes: Ranger gets the best that I’m able to give. Because that’s what being his mom means.
Want to Start Your Pup on Raw?
I know starting a raw journey can feel overwhelming, and that’s exactly why I love helping others get started.
If you want to learn how to transition your pup, build balanced meals, or just figure out what tools and ingredients you actually need, follow me on Instagram and DM me @ Rangersadventureunleashed
I’m always happy to share tips, tricks, and everything I wish I had known in the beginning.
I also put together a Raw-Fed Dogs List on my Amazon storefront to help new raw feeders with the basics—things that make the process WAY easier and less intimidating.
Because once you decide to feed raw, you’re not just changing your dog’s diet… you’re changing their life. And honestly? It might change yours too.

Chiyo visited the Lakeland farmer’s market & helped us pick out a tasty haul from our favourite farmer, Olivor Heritage Farms! Only the highest quality for this boy- pasture raised, organic, & non GMO local meats are a fantastic way to incorporate more PMR into your pup’s diet, because as I always say, life is too short to just eat kibble! We made the road trip up on the last day of the market before it closed for August- good thing they reopen in September! 👩🌾🍖🐕☀️
