hot take that shouldn't even BE a hot take (from someone with this struggle): i think self harm shouldn't be demonized. i'm so sick of people demonizing self harm and treating it like this weird thing. it isn't . i'm so sick of it being a thing that makes people look at others weirdly. i'm sick of the people who either end up angry or disappointed at those who self harm . you do realize that doesn't do the person any good, right ? what you SHOULD do is be there for them in whatever way you can . let them know they have your support no matter what . now of course the person doing it isn't going to stop within an instant or anything, and that's okay. it takes time to recover, and it takes a different amount of time for every individual. and sometimes there'll be relapses, and that's okay too. it just really shouldn't be this stigmatized thing, genuinely. self harming doesn't make you the devil, self harming doesn't make you a bad person, it doesn't make you anything bad whatsoever. now of course i'm not saying self harm is this awesome thing, far from that, nobody should have to want or actively hurt themselves . but at the end of the day, there are people who do, and it shouldn't be treated as this evil diabolical thing that makes you a bad person. to those that are either actively struggling with it, or have recovered, an so on, know that there are people who will always love you, no matter what. please remember that.
