I guess he's not used to them talking back, but I still think they'd get along after some initial awkwardness. Especially him & Tagfer. Fibonacci is forced to listen to him yap since he can't really go anywhere...

& of course he's really awkward around Loid, but he comes around when he realizes he'll respect his boundaries. Sometimes he will hover quietly in Loids' vicinity, or hang out in the same room while completely ignoring him, kind of like a cat. It's a sign of trust.

Nitokh's horrendous obsession with birds gives Roathe's relationship with Bird 3 an interesting angle in my mind.

Like, he had to have known what she was doing right?

It's probably a coincidence that the one member of the Cavia that Roathe feels comfortable talking to is a bird, but if he knew that she was essentially torturing them for their feathers, does that knowledge factor in or give their conversations another layer? For that matter, is Bird 3 a "cock-Voscrix," or a related species?
