And just when I thought I knew all of Roathe's trauma... He tells me his folks shipped him into a boarding school as soon as they could.
And no, I don't he is lying, because he brags about how it gave him the space to learn strategy.
And he had no friends at school.
So, yeah, great to know no one but the Seven had it good.
Hilarious to have it just. Be called a Boarding School. Mr. Bott I think your British is showing
Not to mention the way more terrifying Lore Drop that the Orokin were allowed to bully Eachother to the point of Actual Murder, with the Teachers not stopping it, and only stepping in with a Bottle of Kuva and a Servant
No wonder he’s desensitized to Continuity. They got them hooked YOUNG.
Also scary as prior Lore states that the Circulus is the only Truly Surefire way to do Continuity, which implies a Servant might be picked and narrowly escape several times, or that an Orokin COULD just. Die. Or even that they have to repeat the process to make it work. Terrifying!
An easier answer is that Continuity outside of the Circulus requires a ‘compatible’ body similar to the OG one, with the Circulus allowing more freedoms, like jumping between Sexes (hi Ballas and Yareli).
Potentially Happier (?) implications is the possibility for people to THINK Continuity happened, but actually it Didn’t Work, and now you’ve got a Servant shot all the way up to Orokinhood and they’re in Boarding School now. Hope they can toughen up quickly!!
^ this part may explain why the Halls of Ascension are considered needed for Orokin to ‘prove’ themselves as Orokin. Could be to eliminate imposters?
One does wonder if the reason Roathe's parents just threw him to the school was that he was Roathe 5.8 or something? That the previous kids had failed the school or even the Halls of Ascension? In any case, I do like the implication of what lesson he took from school. Instead of "I can do anything, and it does not matter!" he took "Lives are cheap here, best you protect yours." Which then applied to how he was as a general and how he saw his troops/others. And how he ended up seeing the Yuvan Theatre. As a source of loss.
Hey. That ^ bit about there being Other Roathes that got sent to Boarding School to either succeed or DIE is a terrifying idea.
Holy shit that’s HORRIBLE
I love it.
Man.. yeah.. That chat was really rough and truly showed how ass the Orokin actually were to one another. And Roathe had to suck up his empathy and feelings to survive. Depressing to think how many other orokin like him there were, who didn’t get a second chance. Glad he did though, deserves it at this point
I feel like these boarding schools were for Orokin nobility vying for favour. Because it seems like they existed as a way to ensure only the most ruthless survived. I feel like any of the Seven's kids would have been homeschooled, and if they WERE put into these boarding schools, nobody would DARE to touch them.
