Round my area there has been a craze building the last few months, it is very weird and it all started with the hair doughnut.
Now I’m not sure where the hair doughnut thing started but to me it was in dance studio’s. The doughnut gives you the perfect bun with just a few pins and the doughnut itself of course. Its used by ballerinas to give them all the same hairstyle and keeping it out of their faces. My little sister uses one when she does dance shows.
Now I don’t have a problem with the hair doughnut (I have used one myself), however it has morphed and become more than just a neat bun.
It progressed to a messy bun right on top of the head with the rest of your hair pinned into a messy/bed head/ohmygoshIjustwokeuplikethis look.
That in itself wasn’t offensive and I could have lived with it. But now there are girls walking around with masses of their hair and fake hair piled up on top of their heads splayed out like a bird of paradise display.
Its not just a infliction of the young, it seems to be spreading beyond teenagers and young adults to include the mature responsible woman. I personally do not understand the appeal.
I have been known to wack my hair up in a ponytail or bun done with a bauble (hair tie) if I’m having a Ican’tbefucked day. But I have never sat in front of a mirror and carefully hair sprayed and pinned every lock into place only for the result to look like I’ve stolen my grandmothers beehive weave and smooshed it to the top of my head in a pseudo bird mating display.
Is this craze happening near you?
Have you taken part and can shed some light on it for me?
