John getting SOOO messed up on Six Napoleons because he's forced in a situation with a bomb all over again and it's triggering his war PTSD except this time instead of an unexpected explosion it's being held over his head and used as a threat to make him comply and he has to keep carrying the statue and feeling it's weight, a constant reminder of the danger that he and Innocent Civilians are in.....
Not to indulge the self but I'm just thinking about how every past romantic relationship disappeared from OB's life after the romance. Like Karen breaking up with him and the briefly mentioned sailor going away. He's used to people leaving and he works with dead who have already left. When faced with his best friend leaving (dying) he tries his hardest to stop her from doing so, and even tries to reverse it. He's used to disappearance, but I don't think he's used to reappearance.
Why is this important? Because Jimmy Hawkins (private investigator) MUST come back so we can hear OB melt into a puddle because he didn't register that people could Do That.
Do we think John edited the 3rd part of Empty House or was that still Marianna? They never really say but Someone had to have edited in that heartfelt music near the end while they're reuniting with John, and I'm betting on a certain ex-army doctor.
With all of the ominous messaging I thought that something bad was going to happen (aside from the usual deaths) but instead we got potential yaoi
OB actively rejecting new connection because he's still grieving and holding onto the dead...
One thing that gets me is how at the end of 08 (Boundaby died) OB talks about how humans use flowers during our grief while they wilt and in return when we die the flowers use us for substance. He sees death for the cycle that it is, has seen it that way since the start of show. Before Charlotte, he was used to death, he wasn't used to loss. Maybe I'm talking stupid but I kinda see it as him trying to make logic of Charlotte's death in that moment, trying to go back to his understanding of death from a distance and apply it to Charlotte in the most beautiful way he thought he could, through flowers. Maybe he thought reasoning through it would make him feel better, only it didn't and it only lead to him walking away to weep.
If the obituary writer was hesitant to ride a bike I guess you could call him an obitu-wary rider
