IM GOING TO THE AMELIA PROJECT LIVE SHOW!!!!!! IN A FEW DAYS!!!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!!
It’s genuinely been my dream for so long to go to a podcast live show ever since I got into night vale when I was like, ten years old? I remember listening and hearing all the advertisements for upcoming live events and knowing that none of the events are going to be even close to my country. And I’m so lucky that my parents agreed to make a trip to the uk in time for the show. I can’t wait !!!!! Tomorrow I’m gonna look for a new tie and some makeup for my interviewer cosplay. And I’m planning on bringing a thermos with hot cocoa in it! So if you see me at the event (I’m pretty sure I’m attending the one on the 6th) I can give you some Cocoa! I can try to make the actual le dux magot (Thats how you spell it, right…) hot cocoa because I know the recipe’s out there. BUT I don’t know the limits of my hotel room mini kitchen. Oh also, I’ll try to bring some bubbles,,, I lovvveee blowing bubbles.
Deadass this is how it feels trying to come up with more headcanons/creature design ideas to draw Al since I'm literally working from scratch here except for a singular practical-effects toothy maw that closes around the Friday The 13th re-make James is doing at the end of the kill count.
(From the Deadmeat "to the numbers" bit in VHS Beyond)
- He goes by simply Al when disguised as his interviewer persona. (Which may or many not be a subtle reference to the actual voice actor, Alan Lee)
- Extremely picky with his food (both actual edible human food and youtube views video-quality), doesn't like new changes to the same old formula he enjoys. (For example if his favourite drink brand started promoting it's "new and improved" formula he would blow a gasket over it and go to hell and back just to get a can of the old formula drink that he feels like drinking right now)
- He's extremely ravenous and a messy, indecorous eater. He loves to eat pretty much anything (so long as it caters to his likings)
- he CAN eat real human food, it's not just views and human attention span; because on youtube there's whole sections dedicated to food (food reviews, cooking, mukbangs...) it'd make sense that Al develops a taste for human food which would make him want to travel to our dimension just to try it out.
Speaking of which: Al works similiarly to a Lovecraftian cosmic horror in terms of being an entity beyond comprehension that would defy our physics, but he's a little more complex. He is a man-made horror, it's not just some distant otherwordly creature that became aware of our existence, he's the result of nearly 5.1 billion people's eyes, ears, mouths and overall energy all dumped into one place, mixed with our modern tech: it created something alive.
- You could say he started out as an "Artificial Intelligence" but by now he has grown to be so much more, something more organic even because again- he's not limited to the digital amymore. His existence is spontaneous and his appearence is mainly formless, but he CAN shape it to his liking (much like your very own youtube feed/reccomendations depending on what you like/watch the most).
- His 'core' essense that keeps him alive is overall the internet (the phone screen you're using right now to view this content. The attention you give it, that's what keeps him alive), but his preferred place to 'exist' in is the platform Youtube due to how vast it is and how many users & creators it has. And once he became strong enough he can bleed into the physical world and shape his own form, so to speak.
- The way he does it is similiar to The Long One in the movie Slither when brainwashed hosts fuse their body mass to the "main" alien host Grant Grant, or the Talk Tuah entity in this Meatcanyon animation.
- He begins subtly entering your mind, finding ways to keep you attached to your phone (algorithm suggestions) and once he has you under his thumb, he fully gets into your mind and from that point on he can alter and affect your bodily autonomy (body horror galore essentially); once he gathers enough viewers under the same spot, he forces them all to melt and fuse together (making their bodies come apart at will until its just this giant slushy of red, skin and teeth) and now he is officially in the physical world! This grotesque, mutated mass of bodies can be reshaped into something vaguely human of his choice so he can blend in.
- Or not! And just be a blob of meat that sits in one place (preferrably a Youtube headquarters building) and brainwashes more viewers to come to him and feed him.
- His motives are... questionable, you could say. Really he's fueled by his own greed to consume more and more, but he's not completely unreasonable... as long as he's satisfied and full he can be quite laid back and friendly.
(What motivates this last headcanon is his final quote at the end of the To The Numbers sketch where, after eating James' video, he says "He's good people" in reference to what the Deadmeat crew always says when bidding their cheery goodbyes to their viewers at the end of the video.)
Favourite thing about season 5 is that the Interviewer is just. Really emphasising how much he hated cocoa in the past. Him and Alvina are just sitting on this bench and he's like "oh btw I really hated cocoa. I know I'm addicted to it now, but I thought cocoa was the worst drink to ever exist"
