Australian King Parot makes cheeky approach for food, vibrant bird native to east coast of Australia

The Australian king-parrot (Alisterus scapularis) is a vibrant bird native to the east coast of Australia. Male Australian king-parrots have

King-parrots inhabit humid, densely forested uplands in eastern Australia.

This one was spotted on the Elabana Falls walk in Lamington National Park, South East Queensland.

They favor eucalyptus woods near subtropical and temperate rainforests. They feed on insects, berries, and nectar and are often encountered in pairs or family groups. They communicate with melodic calls and form social bonds. In the wild, they can live up to 30 years if well-cared for. Next time you’re in Australia, keep an eye out for these colorful feathered visitors!

Superb Fairywren (Malurus cyaneus) it was one of the most common birds seen during the trip. The best photos of the males in breeding plumage were seen at Tower Hill, had fun time seeing them fequently pop in and out of the shrubs onto the path. These birds mostly forage on the ground or low shrub areas for insects and supplement their diet with small seeds and fruits.
