No but the winged races of One Piece SHOULD BE more avian!

Between them, the Fish-Men, and the Minks, they really got the short end of the design stick. With the other two, we have this broad, broad range of design choices with all manner of fish/fish adjacent and mammalian morphologies brought into the mix.

But then you just get people with tiny wings glued on their backs.

And at LEAST the Lunarians actually have some pizazz to them, but there’s still so much potential that isn’t being banked on.

Give them talons? Give them feathers for body hair? Give them species variation with their avian traits? Give them a double set of pectoral muscle groupings for wing locomotion? Give them pneumatic bones? Give them high altitude polycythemia?

They should be BIRD PEOPLE, not nativity scene angels!

Was anyone gonna tell me, an anime-only, that not only is Enel still very much alive but he actually made it to the moon, fought space pirates, and accidentally amassed an army of Chopper-like androids in an ancient city hidden underneath the moon's crust — a city that he and all the other residents of Skypiea are originally descended from apparently?!

And this is all 100% canon.

A Birkan And The Last Lunarian

Just imagine if these two met, I think the other sky races hold the Lunarians as the supreme sky race or remember they once existed until something happened to them. Just imagine if Urouge met King and had an inkling he was a Lunarian and probably would be jovial to know about them. King on the other hand probably if he knew about the other sky races would probably wonder a bit about the Birkan especially if he found out how it was wiped out. I think he might have heard about them from his parents if they were still around. 

I also could see their personalities clashing because I think King would view him too much like King while Urouge would think the guy should lighten up a bit. Not to mention how they differ to see how the status of their people being obliterated. King would be more subtly somber while Urouge would probably have a more mask it with smiles and don’t let it get to you. Also I think King would encounter him if he wanted someone from another sky race under his captain.

Once again putting more bird in the Sky Islanders.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if they had a syrinx instead of a larynx? And a narrower hearing range with higher sensitivity? Language cues having insane levels of complexity that others (save for maybe a few avian zoans) can’t pick up on, them being essentially deaf when it comes to certain frequencies, unidirectional respiratory system making it to where they never have to pause to catch their breath in conversation? Could you imagine what singing would be like?

Should more avian Skypieans/Shandians/Birkans/Lunarians have a keel bone?
