I have some prompts, if you'd like?? Biromantic Stan watching a hospital soap opera and being torn up between his crushes on both the sexy main female doctor and the cute receptionist guy?
Attraction for Stan was becoming very very confusing, and it only became more confusing as time went on. He got crushes sure, but they were always on people that he interacted with, and actually got to know. He never felt that...what was it? ‘spark’ that people talked about when first meeting someone. instead he only felt any kind of attraction after getting to know them at least for a little while.
Then came the mess of when the person actually started liking him back (which has only happened once he’s not touching that topic with a ten foot pole. He still has no idea what happened). So instead he focused on his other crushes, the ones that had no chance of ever returning his feelings (again not thinking about that): Dr. Cathryn Winthrop MD and the ‘cute’ receptionist behind the counter, Joseph Henderson.
Stan sighed dreamily as they both came on screen and quickly looked around to make sure he was still alone in the house. The last thing he wanted was for his dad to catch him watching these. His mom wouldn’t care and his brother would probably tease him a little but drop it, but his dad...that wouldn’t be good. It would be extra boxing lessons for him and no more TV. He sighed again, this time dejected, as he turned back to the screen.
Dr. Winthrop was a kick ass lady who knew what she was talking about and made her way to the top by kicking everyone ass and proving she was meant to be there. Stan loved her spirit and her drive, he loved the way she demanded attention when she walked into a room and the commanding tone in her voice which could soften at a drop of a hat when she was with a patient. She sure had some flaws (and her shitty taste in men was one of them in Stan’s opinion. I mean Dr. Youling? that guy was a jack ass! she should just stick that nurse Heather...though Stan knew that one wasn’t about to happen.) Still, her taking it or leave it ‘this is how I am’ personality really drew him to her and he couldn’t help but crush on her HARD.
But then there was Joseph, (and ya, he had had crushed on guys before, this whole thing wasn’t new to him at this point, though it still kind of freaked him out a bit and he knew he couldn’t talk to anyone about this one) Joseph was soft spoken and quiet and always had a warm smile on his face for the patients coming it to see their family. He had to put up with so much crap day in and day out and he did it with a never ending smile and a never ending flow of optimism, the guy was like a fountain of the stuff, and the one time Stan had seen him break down on the show he had been brought to tears himself. Someone like Joseph who had a heart of gold didn’t deserve to be made to cry! He deserved to have the whole world handed to him! he deserved to be loved just as much as he loved everyone else! Stan liked to imagine going up to him and smiling at him and telling him how wonderful he was.
And so he found himself crushing on both of them, HARD, the Doctor for her kick ass attitude but soft center that Stan could just imagine taking to a boxing match, and the cute receptionist that Stan could just imagine taking out for ice cream on the peer. He couldn’t say which one he liked better, because the things that drew him to both of them were so different, “But man, if given the chance I would totally go out with both!” he sighed, flopping across the couch.
“Go out with who?” His brother’s voice spoke up from where he was standing at the top of the stairs, giving Stan an odd look. Stan fumbled to turn off the TV, promptly fell of the couch, and nearly hit his head on the coffee table.
“No one! it’s...no one...uh...how was chess club?”
“It was-wait, don’t change the subject! who do you have a crush on now?!”
“ I told you! No one!” And so the night went on and the both ended up getting in trouble for scratching the coffee table while the fought over the TV.
