@lvckyflannel: "Couldn't be here without you, don't want to be without you. Here's to a good day to spend with you. 'Happy Birthday' there Dark."

AMIDST a sea of vacuous cycles did there exist a diamond in the rough. Variations of his host were venerated as lambs to the slaughter but there was a degree of dissimilitude to them. Often reduced to a series of constants and variables, no other version of his counterpart had the privilege to make his acquaintanceship at such a young age; no other had left an early impression quite like that of his current company.
Expectations were abandoned until a day not long after Mark’s own birthday when the boy decided that a similar occasion should be honoured: a makeshift birthday, complete with a freshly baked cupcake topped with a copious amount of frosting. From that year onward, the tradition was honoured in a multitude of ways that were interrelated to Mark’s growing maturity. The concept of time may have lost its meaning eons ago but the significance of the event only grew with each passing year –----- a learned sense of expectancy, something born from nothing at all.
( HAVEN’T YOU BEEN HERE BEFORE ? HAVEN’T YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE ? HAVEN’T YOU SEEN THIS BEFORE ? )
❝ Another year already ? If it weren’t for you, I fear that the occasion would escape me altogether. ❞
Material gifts were met with their due gratitude for the sake of social niceties but Mark knew better than to assume they alone would suffice. In spite of the world’s most opulent treasures, TIME itself was more coveted than all; after all, each and every moment was priceless to those suffered from mortality --- never to be gained again, never to be spent elsewhere. There was no finer way than to give oneself to another, and that was arguably the greatest gift of all.
If the day fell anything short of truly memorable, there would always be others to compensate for its mediocrity.
Thumb and index finger collected at the other’s chin, further firmed by a third finger as their guidance coaxed Mark’s head upwards to secure eye contact. Their surroundings briefly became grossly malformed from a expansive ripple, soon to be demoted to a triviality when the entity closed the gap between them with a torrid kiss – not unlike the other times before then, not unlike the beginning of every new cycle; to be free, all Mark had to do was choose well.
( TRY & TRY AGAIN UNTIL YOU MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE. IF NOT, THERE’S ALWAYS NEXT TIME & THE TIME AFTER THAT & THE TIME AFTER THAT … )
For what it was worth, after so many years, the entity was never disappointed by the outcome. Mark always had an immaculate track record for birthdays ---- eventually.
❝ You really do spoil me. ❞
((I am now 28. Yey. .w.))
I’VE DONE IT. I think I’ve decided on a birthday for Sora. Although I personally believe there may be some better fits than what Digimon’s given us canonically, I think I’ve settled on something I’m pretty happy with:
Birthday: February 20th, 1989 @ 11:30pm Sun Sign: Pisces ( but ! her birthday falls on a cusp ! ) Moon Sign: Virgo Rising Sign: Scorpio
First, let me talk about the sun sign. Although we really don’t know how long Sora was ignoring Taichi for before the events of Our War Game, it’s most fitting to say her birthday occurred slightly before then. I believe the Pisces water sign is a good fit because water signs tend to be emotional, private, moody, spiritual, feeling, and compassionate. Pisces is known as “the artist” of the zodiac and has a noted ability to be empathetic towards those around them. However, Pisces is a mutable sign. Mutable signs are adaptable, changeable, and communicative. While this can be true of Sora, I personally believe she also shares traits with Fixed signs. Fixed signs are determined, stable, and stubborn in their beliefs. I’ve read that ironically, fixed signs are the most likely to grow and change. They’ve also been described as the fire that keeps friendships and relationships going, and they have a preference for running things rather than starting them. Mutable signs may need to learn adaptability and how to survive change, and are known to gather and disperse information rather than trying to start or run things. I personally believe Sora is a combination of both.
Luckily for my analysis, February 20th falls on the Aquarius/Pisces cusp. While Sora IS a Pisces, she shares some qualities with Aquarius. Aquarius is a fixed, air sign. Air signs are noted as being hard to understand but easy to be around. They can be objective, sociable, open, honest, and rational, but can also be nervous, restless, unstable, and detached. These two signs combine into something called “The Cusp of Sensitivity”. Folks on this cusp are noted for being a peculiar mix of social and shy. They are spiritual, artistic, peace-loving, and friendly. The Cusp of Sensitivity is also thought to be the most intuitive cusp, making an individual on it especially compassionate. Still, Sora is a Pisces and shares more traits with that sign. Pisces folks have a tremendous amount of understanding but are often misunderstood themselves. They are sometimes pegged as being wishy-washy but are actually tuned into a higher purpose. They have a deep love of humanity and can be extremely successful when given the opportunity to express themselves. Pisces folks would do well with careers in the arts, teaching, or healing. They are sensitive to everything- criticism and other people’s feelings. They have a hard time saying no. They try to avoid harsh realities through escape or self-delusion, but often emerge from these short-lived ruts more compassionate than before. They prefer to feel their way through lives than follow some plan. Although sometimes appearing lost and vaguely directionless, Pisces folks have big dreams.
Now, there are certain aspects of this cusp that don’t fit Sora perfectly, but that’s where her moon sign comes in.
I headcanon Sora as having a Virgo moon. Not only does this work out with placing her perfectly on the Pisces side of the cusp, but I think it fits pretty well and counters some of the disagreeable parts of her sun sign. Moon signs are important in determining someone’s chart and are meant to represent one’s emotions and inner mood. Virgo is an Earth & Mutable sign. Earth signs are grounded, practical, cautious, and realistic. It may seem like almost nothing phases them, but when unbalanced, earth signs can become inflexible, lethargic, resistant to change, irrational, and experience toxic emotions. Virgos are the analyzers of the world. Those with Virgo moons enjoy the simplicity of life. They don’t need or want tons of attention, although they do appreciate recognition for the little things they do. Virgo moons find peace through having their lives in order and enjoy running errands, paying bills, and doing chores. They are routines biggest cheerleaders and are stressed out by change. They are also great counselors and have a fine eye, but often turn their criticism on themselves. Virgo moons sometimes suffer from low self-esteem and self-destructive habits. They are known to put up invisible barriers with the hope that somebody will break through. There is a subtle fragility about Virgo moons, and a discrete & guarded sensitivity that I think works in a perfect partnership with Sora’s sun sign. I believe her sense of anxiety stems from the differences we see.
Finally, that brings us to Sora’s rising sign. Rising signs are meant to represent one’s “social mask” or the way other’s view them. It accounts for first impressions and spontaneous reactions. I was a bit torn for this one, but ultimately decided on Sora having a Scorpio rising sign. Scorpio rising signs generally feel a need to know themselves, although they don’t particularly care to reveal themselves to others. They have a defensive wall and often wear a poker face around new people. Still, they give the impression that they have good judgment and are good at getting straight to the cores of people around them. They often seem like they’re looking right through you. However, for as much of a need as they feel to figure out other people’s problems, they often do not speak up about theirs. They are experts at letting you think you know them without actually revealing anything. Scorpio rising signs can be very mysterious. They can also have a bit of a temper if they are challenged.
Whew ! So, this could all completely change pending new information and my own continued learning about horoscopes (which has been pretty fun, tbh). I’d like to try and write out my headcanons for other characters once I have more time, but I’ll leave it here for now. Huge shoutout to @glassesandpassion for helping me figure out details surrounding Sora’s birth year and the Japanese school system. Apologies for any grammatical errors! I need to stop looking at my computer screen for a little bit lolol.
[This is nearly a month late, and I'm very sorry about that.]
'Would this be enough?
...Or would it be too much? '
'Would it be good enough for him?'
Questions continue to flood Harmony's mind with every step she takes. Closer and closer to the one she seeks. The cyborg quivers in her boots, but that does not stop her from taking strides to the Party Car where a special guest waits. As the door opens, her sterling gaze catches the image of none other but one of the Knights of Beauty: The one who her heart longs during those long periods on the Astral Express.
How long has it been since the Trailblazer had Alexios this close to her? It seems so long since she last gazed into his deep blue eyes, saw his charming smile, heard his voice, or felt the warmth of his embrace. But this time, Harmony is nervous. It's Alexios's birthday and while Harmony made him a gift, she fears it may not be up to the Knight's standards. Surely, he has witnessed beauty across the cosmos. While her craft is one found in her home, her skill may not be up to par with the other Okchaian people who made intricate beadwork.
Still, Harmony tried. She gave it her all, pouring her heart into her craft. She gave it her best because Alexios deserves the best. But still, there is that small voice deep within her, a small voice sowing the seeds of doubt. Nevertheless, Harmony moves forward, a smile on her face while ignoring the thundering rhythm of her heart.
"Hey, there!" She greets Alexios with a small wave, her other hand holding something behind her back. "I'm glad you could make it! I was worried that something might hold you up." She adds, but she seems more nervous now.
"I wanted you to come to the Express to catch up. Also, I wanted to give you this." She finally reveals what she hides behind her back: A box wrapped in deep blue paper and embraced by light blue ribbon, it holds Harmony's latest work. "Happy birthday, Alexios. I made it just for you." The cyborg leans in, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek.
What Alexios would find in the gift is a cuff bracelet adorned with beadwork in black, sea green, and purple on black leather.

he had long since accepted that no one outside of his immediate family would acknowledge that he has a birthday unless it was to remind him that the gentle gaze of his aeon has made him AGONIZINGLY ETERNAL. even his own best friend is struggling to keep up, and it pains him every time they bring up the passing years. one day, he will cease to show his age, and age will cease to show beyond him.
but when harmony seems to flutter her lashes and fuss over something to give to him, he can't help but tilt his head. wondering if it would be best to refuse. wondering if it was okay to accept. he is, after all, from a world soaked in tradition. he is, after all, from a home broken by religious idiocy. this would be seen as a proposal in his day and age. ( she doesn't need to know that. )
"I love it, Harmony." he hums as he slips it onto his wrist. she knows well that his line of work leaves no part of him scarce of blood and gore, but he will make an attempt to keep it away. "And I love you."
Right as he walked by an awning, a sprinkle of flower petals showered over him, and the chime of bells would be Lex’s only clue that ‘Silvy’ had stopped by. A basket rested on the bench close by, Amber marked clearly in it in Merlin’s script. Inside was a rough hewn piece of tiger’s eye, waiting to be polished. Beside it was a journal untouched by ink – a means for Lex to put his notes and thoughts down. And finally, a fine quality fountain pen that had little paw prints impressed on it.
Underneath those was a folded quilted blanket; created with the colours that Merlin mentioned. A sunset with a dusky sky with starts just about to appear. For when the nights were long and the winds were fierce and cold.
birthday asks — another year.
silvy had always been an oddball when it came to noticing when he came in and out of the young man’s perception. the chime of bells, and the wash of soft petals, they were the only tell. even when silvy was fully there, his presence was like a white noise machine— something merely to fill a void. and when his guard dropped for but a moment, it was as if he could take his eyes off the magus and he would just … disappear entirely. ( it was a reassurance that he didn’t up and disappear on him at every opportunity — whether due to prank or intensity, but his self loathing ate at his mind like a ravenous dog. )
but he smiles wordlessly, unreadable gaze softening enough to see the sentiment behind the gentleness. he sighs, the sharp sound falsely betraying his unusual show of annoyance. in reality he is fond of this silent show of care. this level of understanding.
“I should go stargazing,” he smiles, as he picks it up from where it had been lain, humming to himself.
