Honestly the ridiculousness of cancel culture is so fucking amusing because these people will ignore actual harmful things that "influencers" are doing in the present because they gave a fake, scripted apology but will dig up stuff that people did a decade ago, even when it's pretty clear that the people in question have changed for the better. Like I'm sorry you were 4 years old back then but society pre-2013 was not as well informed as it is now. Personally speaking, I AM a queer person, I've also made questionable gay jokes. I've learned better and so have a lot of the people from back then, please move on🤦🤦
tbh the whole concept of cancel culture is so varied and in my opinion too many things fall under that category and it truly is circumstantial but. yes. very much this situation is useless to keep bringing up and does nothing. it’s not real activism. it’s not doing anything for anyone. and honestly? @ these kids on twt saying that comments made by 18 year old dan are “harmful to them” pls stop putting your faith in white men and relying on them for your happiness? like for your own good lmfao if you’re gonna stan a white cis man you CANNOT act surprised when u find out they’ve made ignorant jokes in the past. and like i said before that’s not condoning the jokes themselves or the behavior but rather acknowledging that there’s literally nothing else that can be done here.
