A Little Rain Oracle - Jellyfish Tree

The name of the jellyfish tree is a flower that truly is as unique as its name implies. Originally called Medusagyne — named after Medusa from Greek mythology – they’re characterised by multiple thin tentacles which cannot germinate in the wild.

They’re one of the few plant species that host flowers that are male and bisexual, and their flowers develop a deeper red colour with age, showing their tenacity like a badge of honour even as their population declines as a whole.

For a while, it was even thought to be extinct until, after a long disappearance, the jellyfish tree reappeared in its native land, Seychelles. The jellyfish tree is an excellent example of surviving against all odds.

Beggartick and strawberry are both bisexual flowers, where beggarticks cannot self-pollinate and strawberries can. Not being able to self-pollinate--->hybrid vigor--->beggarticks are everywhere. Misshapen strawberries are often times the results of self-pollination.

But you know they are just as sweet. And the flower is still just as pretty.
