Noragami Review!
Hello! Welcome to another anime review! In this one, I'll be going over one very famous anime: Noragami!
This anime is composed of two seasons for twenty-five episodes in total. The first season aired in 2014, and its sequel, the following year. Noragami deals with a mix of mythology, action, and comedy.
The story is on the straightforward side, and it has some pretty common mythology elements (i.e. a god is on Earth and bonds with a human, etc.), but makes them work. It's not super intriguing, but the humor makes it enjoyable.
I feel it's important to point out that Season Two is much more plot-heavy than Season One, making it quite a bit better, in my opinion. The first season is more about introducing the main characters (which is important too, don't get me wrong).
Talking about the main characters, I grew to like them! They're fun, and they work well together! Noragami has some pretty common tropes, but again, they're used well. The redemption arcs in this anime are also excellent.
The side cast is much weaker, though. The antagonists are pretty poor, although I feel like they're not meant to be the focus of the story.
Character dynamics are good, as is the character development (for most characters). The anime has a few romance elements, although I can't conclusively say if there's one intended ship. I really don't think it's that important, though.
The music is great, no questions asked. A few themes are easily recognizable and sound amazing, as do the two openings. The second one, in particular, is spectacularly good.
Noragami has good art. For something that aired eight years ago, it's pretty. Not the best, but pleasant to the eye. The animation is also above-average, especially the fighting scenes.
Last but not least, something I don't usually mention in my reviews: the OVAs. This might be the only anime with better OVAs than normal episodes! Do watch them, as they're really, really funny.
Overall, this is a very good anime! It has some flaws, but they're pretty minor. I 100% recommend it, especially if you're into these genres!
