“Day without Immigrants” 

Across the U.S., immigrants were encouraged to stay home from work and school and not patron any businesses as well. Dallas, Texas is one of the cities that vowed to participate in this protest. Businesses closed in solidarity today including Cesar’s Tacos and Supermercado El Rancho (pictured above) to show the impact immigrants have on society and the economy. Many hispanic driven businesses in the Oak Cliff area closed including dress shops, fruterias, and restaurants. However, in an odd turn, well known Bishop Arts area businesses seem to be thriving even though they are located in a mostly hispanic populated area and are understaffed.
