2024 Eclipse, Arkansas

I traveled from near Huntsville, Alabama to Bryant, Arkansas for the April 8th eclipse. I didn't take many pics because it was kind of a boring trip and I didn't take any time to do any exploring. I did take a few pics of the park in Bryant called Bishop Park. It was a nice big park that had a disc golf course, baseball fields, playground, and some other park stuff.

Totality lasted for like 2:30 minutes, which was really cool, but it didn't feel like that long at all. My Pentax DSLR has a video mode, but this is the first time I used it. I know this isn't a cinematic masterpiece; I just wanted to show how quickly the light faded and returned. This is like a 17:00 min video, and I didn't speed anything up at all. I thought you could toggle the speed on YouTube faster than 2x, but that doesn't seem to be the case. You Can See the Bottom!

Water plays a role and everyone’s life. Ditch, stream, lake, river aqueduct, marsh, swamp, puddle; I am certain every person has a special water place in their memory. There are many to choose from when you grow-up in Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes. I chose this spot along the Detroit River because it was a constant in my life growing-up.

Sat up at the park with gabiediller today. Didn't get any drawing done like I wanted, but it was so relaxing to get out of the house and look out at the river. Perfect weather was perfect.

Volunteers help uncover gateway to Bishop's park

THE ruins of a forgotten castle that once provided the gateway to the Bishop of Durham's park have been uncovered by a team of archaeologists.

Fifty volunteers from the North Pennines AONB Partnership's Altogether Archaeology project discovered the remains of Westgate Castle, in Weardale, County Durham, which was used as offices for the Bishop's extensive estate from the 13th Century through to the early 17th Century.

Several decades later, the disused castle had fallen into a state of disrepair and its masonry was quarried for new buildings.

None of its masonry remains above the ground but a recent geophysical survey indicated that substantial walls are buried below the surface. Read more.
