Made my first, and last at this location before it closes on Saturday, visit to @bistrowagonrouge, the French eatery step-sibling to legendary brunch spot, the Red Wagon, a few blocks over on East Hastings. There, I enjoyed an almost perfectly executed French onion soup, chased with the brawny straw-oat malt and mild citrus hop of @strangefellowsbrewing Talisman Pale Ale, followed by an okay one-pound bowl of moules Romesco (in my defence, I’ve eaten a lot of perfectly-stewed mussels, so I’m hard to please in the mussel department), and a skillet of crispy frites. And it was très bon! Come to think of it, I haven’t been full in this way since I last ate in France!
