A good video about how bits damage horses mouths.
I’ve been seeing images like this making rounds. I understand this is just a snaffle and the “it’s a kind bit” and “I have soft hands” stuff. Save it. It’s not about this bit being rainbow. It’s about the majority of the people who would buy something like this are people who buy things because they are pretty and make them look good instead of thinking about what would be most comfortable for their horse.
This trend may start out in just snaffles, but it could easily make it’s way up to something much worse. Nobody would question it either because all they would think was “pretty colors” or some idiocy like that.
Bone spurs and tooth erosion caused by riders with "soft hands". They're just aids right?
“Aww but it’s so pretty, right?”
I don’t know how someone can accept this idiocy. I mean just look at those hooves. Those are not even the worst ones I have seen. Look at the nice and happy shank bit. I’m sure that doesn’t hurt at all. Guy’s EQ is well... not there.
“You just don’t understand saddleseat because you’ve never done it.” I don’t need to participate in a particular discipline to know that their practices are not beneficial to the horse.
It’s not saddleseat that’s bad. It is what has become common practice in the industry in order to win that makes it bad. Because it’s all about looking pretty and winning.
So basically it’s a pretty way of saying, “I put a muzzle on my horse to force him to take the bit.”
