Curiouser and curiouser.
Katerah picks up the wilted flower, twirling it in her fingers. It’s not coming back to life. That’s not supposed to happen.
And now Katerah is curious. That’s not always a good thing.
She follows the path of dying flowers. It’s weird to hear the sound of dying plants crunch beneath her feet, she rarely gets to hear the sound. She doesn’t like it. She still follows it though. Some crunchy flowers sure aren’t going to stop her.
She comes to a corner and carefully peers around. She doesn’t know what to expect, probably some kind of weird life-sucking monster. What else could it be?
Someone is standing on the edge of the hill. Someone Katerah doesn’t know. They are dressed head to toe in black save for the blonde hair that shows beneath a black crown. Around them, a circle of wilted and dead flowers has formed. It slowly grows the longer they stand there. From here, it looks like all they are doing is standing there.
Katerah steps from the corner. Moving closer…
They turn suddenly and Katerah jumps in surprise. She wasn’t expecting their face to be uncovered, she wasn’t expecting blue eyes so bright they’re almost glowing. She also wasn’t expecting to see such a normal face.
She was half expecting a vampire.
“Who are you?” she asks. They stare at her. She stares back. She opens her mouth again to ask but her world is suddenly surrounded in black. Before Katerah can think, she’s being carried away by whoever they are.
“Wai— Hey!” She hits their chest but they’re strong and the feeling of weightlessness grows suddenly. She grips their chest once it feels like she’s flying.
Katerah doesn’t know what’s going on, she doesn’t know what to think. She only wanted to follow some dead flowers.
What’s happening?
