@bitchesoffillory and I were talking about No Beast AU’s and specifically how that would affect Penny’s story. Would Penny be slightly different personality-wise? Because he mentioned to Kady that the Beast’s voice was his only friend growing up - so what would Penny be like without Martin Chatwin literally whispering in his head his entire life? Did he even have that much of an affect on Penny pre-Brakebills, since he presumably never did anything shady or evil before they did the ritual in the pilot episode, and Penny realized who the voice belonged to?

and that also leads to more plotholes with the timelines. I know it’s generally accepted that the loop starts right before the gang gets to Brakebills, so was Martin just always gonna fuck with Penny for some reason? Even before the gang got involved in the Chatwin drama? or did the showrunners just not put nearly as much thought into all of this as the fandom does, as usual lmao
